Project Team Members

The project took a period of about eleven months (November 2000 - October 2001) with a group of engineers actively working on it. There was also a team of engineers from government and government agencies (USGS, City of Cape Coral, Lee County) that were also involved with the project with regard to providing data, maps and general information about the Cape Coral modeled watershed. A description of major responsibilities and contact information for the team members is given below.

1) John C. Capece, Ph.D.

Tel: +1-863-674-5727 Fax: +1-863-675-3171 e-mail: capece@aol.com

As President of Southern DataStream, John provided leadership and coordinated the entire project. He gave direction to the interns working on the project. He also liased with government agencies for the collection of all inputs data used.

2) Michael A. Hanson, P.E.

Tel: +1-941-377-8858 Fax: +1-941-371-2569

e-mail: mhanson@boyleengineering.com

As Senior Engineer at Boyle Engineering (Sarasota), the main contractor to the City on the project, Mike provided useful advise on the direction of the project and acted as a link to the City of Cape Coral for communication and meetings.

3) Claudia Perlongo, Ph.D.

Tel: +39-019-808665 e-mail: cperlongo@intellitemps.net

As environmental engineering intern at Southern DataStream, Claudia did the initial work of building the model in XP-SWMM, collected input rainfall data from USGS/Lee County, collected data on the physical landscape and hydrology of the Gator Slough Watershed. Claudia provided the foundation upon which the next two interns (Andrea and Andrew) built on.

4) Andrea Pipinato

Tel: +39-049-717046 e-mail: apipinato@intellitemps.net

As civil engineering intern at Southern DataStream, Andrea worked with Claudia in building up the model for running in XP-SWMM. He liased with technical support and documented very useful information on the "how to's" of XP-SWMM. He performed the statistical analyses needed for the model. He further on did the calibration runs and produced a Calibration Report for the City.

5) Andrew Zulu (author)

Tel: +1-863-674-5727 Fax: +1-863-675-3171 e-mail: azulu@intellitemps.net

As mechanical engineering intern at Southern DataStream, I worked with Andrea to produce the Calibration Report for the City. I further run the design storms (5, 25, 100-year), collected data on the summer event of 2001. This summer data was used for a verification run. I compiled databases for street elevations and flooding based on the results from the design storms. Finally, I produced the Final Report for the City and this project information web-site.
